Agency Information

Emergency Management is tasked with planning and coordinating the Town's response to an emergency or disaster. As time allows we will be adding more information on preparedness for Town residents. Until then both MEMA (Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency), FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and the American Red Cross all have good information on home preparedness.

West Tisbury residents should have enough supplies to be self-sufficient for a minimum of 96 hours. Because we are on an island it may take longer for help to reach us.

Keep enough water on hand for 1 gallon a day per person for drinking and cooking. In addition, fill the bathtub or some other large container for toilet flushing in case of power outage. This water should not be used for drinking unless boiled for 5 minutes.
