Yes, we think it appropriate that as the AIFC group looks at potential on-going costs of the fields restoration project, someone from the MVRHS school committee and/or your office be at the next meeting. On 8/28 I separately sent a request for cost information that several Fincom members from various towns would like to see to better understand where this is going financially. I have yet to get any reply to that communication. I have attached that letter here as well. While I recognize that there is an on-going review of the project as you state below, the request I have made on behalf of the West Tisbury Finance Committee and members of other Finance Committees is both reasonable and I believe separate from the MVC’s and OB Planning Board’s work, as we are looking solely at costs, as is our purview. As public bodies, I believe we are obligated to not only communicate openly, but share public information. We look forward to getting the information requested and do hope this clarification will result in your representation at the next AIFC meeting, as I believe it in no way conflicts with the on- going reviews Thanks, Doug From: Richard Smith [mailto:rsmith@mvyps.org] Sent: Tuesday, September 01, 2020 11:23 PM To: Doug Finn Cc: melarsen1103@gmail.com; rpgaffey@hotmail.com; fincom@edgartown-ma.us; rhannemann@comcast.net; mdandrea@mvyps.org; Doug Ruskin; greg orcutt; Kimberly Kirk Subject: Re: SECOND CALL FOR RESPONSE - All Island Finance Committee Dear Mr. Finn, I wanted to respond to your email dated August 25, 2020. I am not clear if your email was an invitation to attend a future All-Island Finance Committee meeting. If it was, I want to respond by saying at this point in time, we have not yet completed the review of our project by the Oak Bluffs Planning Board (OBPB) and the Martha’s Vineyard Commission (MVC). As such, we cannot commit to appearing at an All Island Finance Committee meeting on either September 8, 2020 or September 15, 2020. Our response is in deference to the review process that has been laid out by the Oak Bluffs Planning Board (OBPB) and the Martha’s Vineyard Commission (MVC). It would be inappropriate for us to discuss the details of this project at this time given the pendency of this review. Upon completion of the OBPB and MVC review process, we would be happy to set up an opportunity to share our project and answer questions with the All Island Finance Committee, as well as other members of the community who would like to participate. Moreover, we will have more information at the time as to the direction the project will take following the completion of that review. As always, we are grateful for the support of our towns’ finance committees. Please feel free to reach out to either of us at your convenience. Respectfully, Richie Smith, Ed.D.
