The Zoning Board of Appeals conducts public hearings as the permit granting authority for Special Permits, Comprehensive Permits, Variances and Appeals.
Meetings
Thursdays, twice a month - 5:00 PM at Town Hall (Which Thursday depends on scheduling of public hearings)
Online Permitting
The Town of West Tisbury now has an Electronic Permit Management System allowing you to apply online for permits, view sign-offs and enables a process review for numerous online permit submittals.
You can apply for to the Zoning Board of Appeals for a Special Permit, Variance or Appeal a Decision of the Building Inspector, but first you must set up an account to use the system; the process takes less than five minutes. If you do not have access to a computer, there are numerous public computers at the Library, or we can assist you here at Town Hall. Please follow the instructions carefully to set up and use your account.
Once you have filled out an online application and submitted it electronically it is not complete until the ZBA office has received two large-scale site plans and two sets of floor/elevation plans, etc. Once your application is complete, it will be stamped by the Town Clerk beginning the review process under M.G.L. Chapter 40A Section 9.
