Community Preservation Committee

The Community Preservation Committee helps develop and administer projects funded with Community Preservation Act monies; it encourages participation from interested community members.

Meetings

The Community Preservation Committee normally meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 5:30 pm in Howes House, and welcomes preliminary discussions of innovative projects. Currently, virtual meetings are being held in accordance with orders issued by the Governor during the current state of emergency.  There will be no in-person attendance by the public.  Meetings will be held via ZOOM application.  All ZOOM login instructions are posted with meeting agendas.  Background information on the Community Preservation Act and details on how to submit applications for funding are available at this website.

The Community Preservation Committee will be seeking applications for funding for 2024 projects in October, 2023.

The following projects were approved for CPA funding at the 2023 Annual Town Meeting.

  • Dukes County Regional Housing Authority:  $50,000 for the rental assistance program.
  • The Field Fund:  $54,000 for the West Tisbury Town Field Irrigation Program.
  • Harbor Homes of Martha’s Vineyard:  $80,000 for the construction of five permanent supportive housing bedrooms with shared kitchen space for the chronically homeless.
  • Scott’s Grove Debt:  $208,995 for final payoff of the debt for the Scott’s Gove Affordable Housing project.
  • Vineyard Preservation Trust:  $235,000 for replacement the Grange Hall roof.
  • West Tisbury Parks and Recreation Department:  $30,000 for rope railings at Lamberts Cove Beach.
