To the Residents of West Tisbury,

At the Annual Town Meeting in April 2008, voters acted on Community Preservation funding for the projects listed below; additional information on approved projects is available by clicking on the relevant item at the right.

Article 25, Town Hall renovation:  Approved with a commitment of $100,000 per year for 5 years from Community Preservation funds.

Article 26, Mill Pond dredging: Defeated.

Articles 27 and 28, Roadside Paths:  Postponed indefinitely.

Article 29, Bailey Park affordable housing:  Approved.

Article 30, 200 State Road affordable housing:  Approved.

Article 31, Island Affordable Housing Loan Fund:  Approved.

Article 32, Sepiessa affordable rental expansion:  Approved.

Article 33, Rental subsidies:  Approved.

In all, voters approved $875,000 in Community Preservation funding recommended by the CPC; most of the money will be dedicated to creating affordable housing units and providing support for qualified buyers or renters.  These funds will be available for approved projects in Fiscal Year 2009, beginning July 1, 2008.

The Community Preservation Committee is looking ahead for projects that could be recommended to Town Meeting in FY2009 and funded in FY2010.  About $800,000 will be available to support new projects, and the Committee invites proposals from the island-wide community as well as from within the town for creative projects that fall into three broad categories: community housing, historic resources, and open space.  Proposals that combine two or three funding categories and that might generate additional funding from other sources are especially welcome.

The Community Preservation Committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 5:30 pm in Howes House, and welcomes preliminary discussions of innovative projects.  Background information on the Community Preservation Act and details on how to submit applications for funding are available at this website.
