The DCRHA Rental Conversion Program provides subsidies that bring year-round rentals within reach of low-income residents. This program provides a relatively inexpensive way to meet the need for affordable housing without creating new units; funding is requested to continue and expand this program. In April 2007, voters approved the allocation of $18,000 from CPA funds toward this program, which helped to support rentals by qualified town residents. The CPC recommends the allocation of $30,000 to subsidize affordable housing rentals by eligible West Tisbury applicants in fiscal year 2009.
ARTICLE 33: To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from the Community Preservation Community Housing reserve the sum of $10,000, and from the Community Preservation Undesignated reserve the sum of $20,000, to provide rental subsidies for West Tisbury applicants eligible for the Dukes County Regional Housing Authority’s Rental Conversion Program. APPROVED.
