Historical Resources

This historic church is seeking funds to restore and preserve its structure.  The project will include excavating and strengthening the church foundation; preserving the clock and weathervane; constructing a universal access entry ramp; and renovating the lavatory in the parish house for universal access.  The funds appropriated by the Town will support engineering and architectural studies to establish a budget for the proposed work; church funds will support additional analyses if needed.  These studies will serve as a basis for a possible proposal for CPA funds in 2010 as well as a capital fund drive by the church.  The town has a public interest in the church as a significant historic resource and for its use for a variety of community functions.  The award of CPA funds for church restoration is conditional upon a historic preservation restriction that would maintain this historic resource in perpetuity.
